Precision cutting

Rather than simply cutting hair, this technique involves cutting very precisely based on the flow of the hair, the texture, the shape of the face, the shape of the head, and even the bone structure, making it one of the most important techniques for a hairdresser and barber, as it gives a huge impact on the finished.

Great advantages of precision cutting
1. Creating a beautiful silhouette
The hair is cut to suit each individual’s head shape and bone structure.
This creates a better balance and a more beautiful silhouette.
2. Easy hair styling
The optimal cutting based on the characteristics of hair, such as thin, thick, curly, etc. This will give hair a natural, beautiful finish and make it easier to style.
3. A beautiful hairstyle lasts longer
Possible to create a hairstyle that will stay in place even as hair grows, and maintain their beauty and design.
4.Providing a hairstyle matches each individuality
One of the greatest attractions of precision cutting is that it can create a hairstyle that matches each individual’s bone structure and facial features.
It naturally accentuates their individuality and brings out their unique appeal to the fullest.

Q. What motivated you to start your career as a hairstylist?
Even though I grew up in a hair salon (my mother business) all my youth, I never thought hairdressing could possibly be a career opportunity for me. I originally was more interested in cooking and traveling at a very young age but when I was 15, I spent a week as work experience at my mother’s salon and instantly fell in love with hairdressing. The atmosphere, the people, the creativity. Everything was just right! At 16, I started my career as a hairdresser apprentice.
Q. What events or experiences led you to your current job?
I was very attracted to Vidal’s work and at the time it was the place to be. So, I worked there for 10 years and became a creative director. This gave me the chance to travel the world doing shows, seminars, TV advertisement, teaching and many more experiences that have solidified my foundations and understanding of the craft. In 2011, M&P was created. It rapidly became successful with clients and collaborations around 60 countries across the globe. Being a business owner have also helped me a lot to grow and learn a different side of our industry. Mixing creativity and business understanding have giving me a much better vision to satisfy our student’s needs. Not only with teaching them a skill but also by having a better understanding of their day-to-day salon work and struggles.
Q. Is there a philosophy or message that you value in your work or creative process?
Yes, I really believe that the two main things that I learned in the past were:
(1) To manipulate hair the way that my mum did teach me in France. No matter what happened, she always managed to make her clients looked fantastic and her sense of aesthetic was for me a great importance to learn.
(2) To learn how to Cut hair well, with a plan, with a structure and also with a way to explain it easily so you could pass on your knowledge to others. This is why now I call our style at M&P “Precision Cutting meets Precision Styling” from the two different style that I learned in the past and mix together today.
Q. Please tell us about any thoughts or values that you would like to convey through your work.
I believe “SERENITE” has a word pretty much sums up that question. With time now that I look back at 30 years of doing hairdressing my aim have radically changed from the technical physical aspect of what we do TO … a mind set and my life balance.
I chose “SERENITE” as a name for our collaboration scissors because it represented really well where I am right now within myself and NOT outside.
Because what I really want to convey through my courses is a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere students feel safe and learn as much as possible. So, I guess the most important value for me is respect and kindness!
Q. Please tell us about the trends in the world that you’re currently paying attention to, and how they have influenced or will influence your creative work.
For me there is only one hair trend and one hair trend only! “SUITABILITY”! I personally never followed hair trends and hopefully never will! It’s our duty to tailor make a hairstyle for each individual. This is done by starting a carefully made consultation with clients or models to create a Haircut that suits their head shape, bone structure and hair type followed by a hair color that compliments skin and eye color. This for me is a real winning combination for success.
Otherwise, I was a kid that grew up in the 80’s and 90’s and HIP HOP and REGGAE culture have always been a big part of inspirations for me. I have also been a great fan of French and Japanese fashion from a very young age and this have helped me to source inspirations for our collection choice of garment.
