Q. What motivated you to start your career as a hairstylist?
I loved the idea of every day being completely different from the next. There is so much to learn and growing our industries, so it keeps me excited.
I think I’ve always had a desire to travel and to push myself out of my comfort zone. From very early on in my career I got the chance to speak on stage and I think that gave me a spark to keep pushing. Honestly, the experiences have all been about meeting new people and a lot of collaboration- that’s when I really thrive in my work.
Q. Is there a philosophy or message that you value in your work or creative process?
I think authenticity is huge, not just in my haircuts or work but also in my business and brand. When you find what it is that fulfills you and makes you happy I think you need to trust that instinct, and go with it.
Q. What trends in the world are you currently paying attention to, and how have they influenced or will influence your own creative work?
I’m always so influenced by different places I travel too. I recently worked in Brazil and Japan and both left me massively inspired. Japan has been one of the most inspiring places I have ever been, the culture is so deeply rooted in art and fashion and I think my favourite thing is that people aren’t afraid to express themselves. So for me, they are constantly leading trends around the world.
